Theatre Week reached its culmination this week. One by one, the remaining 34 contestants walked down the spectacularly lit path at Sun City’s Superbowl to receive the Judges’ final verdict.

The words “yes, you’re through to the next round” carried even more weight than in the previous rounds, because from that big announcement, the fate of the singers will be in the hands of one Judge only – the voting public.

Instead of a Top 16, it was announced there was a Top 18. The First Group show, will take place in front of an audience at the newly built Soweto Theatre, will be broadcast on Saturday, 21 July at 17:30. The Second Group show will be broadcast on the following night, Sunday, 22 July at 17:30. So, get ready for an Idols weekend next weekend on M-Net and Mzansi Magic.
