After the brutal and abrupt end to the previous Episode of Idols, things got even more brutal.
While the Top 50 contestants were celebrating their good fortune at the end of a very long day’s group performances and contestant cuts, the hoopla was cut short. Idols judge Randall Abrahams called everyone back on stage. “Today we have been far too lenient. There are still far too many of you here,” he said sternly. “We’re looking for only the very best sixteen contestants.” More people were sent home and we were left with only 34.
Those that remained, however, had only 24 hours to put their signature on a song they randomly chose. Yet another twist was presented: contestants were singing in front of some of the show’s biggest fans. And, boy, did those performances blow us away! Sihle seemed to have really impressed Randall with her stage presence and voice. He gushed: “Yes, yes, yes! I love that girl!”
The Contestants were also introduced to the new Idols Musical Directors, legendary producer Alexis Faku and 12-time SAMA nominee Martin Schofield from Wonderboom and Flash Republic, for the first time.
Next week, we find out whose recital did not quite cut it.
