With thousands of people auditioning in Durban, Jo’burg and Cape Town, it was difficult to pack all the entertainment into only three episodes.

Episode 4, dubbed the Best of The Rest in Idols Director’s Cut had more fun, oddness, craziness, and sheer talent. There was a contestant who had auditioned for the past seven years, another returned to prove something to herself after finding last year’s experience heart wrenching and a young man who defies his family to pursue his musical dream. Zahara popped in to show support for a contestant she knows.

Idols Alumni Heinz Winckler, Mark Haze and Boki Ntsime also offered tips and advice for surviving auditions.
