News: A Star Studded Final
Idols Season 8’s grand finale saw a host of South Africa’s most talented artists share a stage in the run up to the big announcement.

By the time Khaya was announced as South Africa’s latest Idol, audience members and viewers at home had been well entertained by the likes of Toya Delazy, Jack Parrow, Zakes Bantwini and more.

Idols fans took to Twitter and Facebook to share their thoughts on the various performances.

The Show kicked off with a Group Performance from the former Contestants of the Top 10. Monde, Dominic, Chloë , Simphiwe, Shekhinah, Obakeng, Tshidi and Nosipho took to the stage to sing “This Is War” by 30 Seconds To Mars.


This is what the audience said:
“They sound amazing!” - Sonique Kuyper.

“Awwww so happy to see Obakeng, Simphiwe & Shekhinah *tears*.” - Nawii-namo Buari Manza.

“The Top 10 sound awesome together!” - Samantha Pinn.

“Monde annoyed the hell out of me and why does Nosipho always looks she is bout to kill you lol.” - Kesha Kiara Gordon.

“What a powerful performance from the Top 10! As always, Tshidi, Monde and Simphiwe were exceptional!” - Kelebogile Lebo Rakhudu.

“They should do a concert tour through SA!” - Yolande Venter.

After misleading the crowd into believing he was already at Aardkloop Music Festival, Jack Parow popped onto the Idols stage to perform.


“Nice Jack, you just rock bru lol.” - Eduard Luiters.

“OMG what is he wearing?” - Natasha Delpaul.

“Wow the craziest guy in SA music! I might not hear what he sings because it’s in Afrikaans but I think it’s nice because he presents it in a very nice way lol.” - Nosiphe Nocie Kwatsha.

“I reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaally don't like him and his music...bleh.” - Lanka Stols.

“I just love this dude! He cracks me up.” - Ma'Thobie Mathunjwa.

“Is it too late to vote for Jack Parow? Lol, I love it. Well done!! SA is truly a rainbow nation!” - Rencia Smit.

Zakes Bantwini returned to the Idols stage to collaborate with the guys of the Top 10. They performed Zakes’ hit “Clap Your Hands”.


“That was a wow performance!” - Hlengiwe Hle Zulu.

“I love Zakes. Enjoyed the performance.” - Veronica Gonya.

“That performance was on fire! Truly loved Obakeng and Simphiwe.” -

“Stellar performance. If we were voting the boys would have beat the girls tonight. Job well done boys!” - Chikoma Mbewe.

“These guys are all star performers. They gave us not just a performance BUT a stellar one. They gave every last bit of their souls into that. That's what can be defined as passion for what they love the most, Music.” - Vuyiswa Zulu.

“I loved this performance! Now this is what you pay to watch. Nice one.” - Ellaine Payne.

Not to be outdone by the guys, the ladies of the Top 10 joined Toya Delazy for a performance of her song “Heart”.

“Nosipho's eyes are crazy wild. Toya is bad with live performances but the other girls were brilliant.” - Masego Mase.

Zolani Mahola, lead singer of Freshlyground, was on hand to mentor the Idols Contestants during the competition. She returned with the entire band to perform their latest single “Take Me To The Dance”.


“Their performance was just wow!” - Anda Simthembile Mfanta.

“Something different from Freshlyground and I just love it so much. That song rocks!” - Newton Givan Ruiters.

“Loved it! On another note, I'd like to get her weight loss program, she looks goooood :).” - Rechelle Tsunke.

“I liked the hairstyle. I’m off to copy it. I’m going to get to da salon and say, ‘I want Zolani's haircut’. Lol.” - Masego Mase.

“Don't like the new sound and style!” - Njabulo Dlv Didi.

“It’s truly a great song and a different perspective of them. The problem is, she couldn’t control her voice in that song. Just a little more practice and it will be tight.” - Khayelihle Mdluli.
