The journey to South African Idols Season 8’s final two has been a long and challenging one for
Melissa and
Khaya. It has also been one that has introduced them to people they will hold dear for a long time to come.
The Top 2 look back on their journey, sharing their greatest lessons, highlights of the Season and let us in on the friendships they have made along the way.
“Making it into the Top 2 was my best moment,” says Melissa. She says she has made friendships that will last for life.
“The Contestants, Top 18 and onwards, have all been there for me. I’ve made close friendships for life and they have all influenced me in different ways,” she says.
Another highlight for her was recording her debut single “I Could Spend A Lifetime”.
She says: “Doing my first music video and recording my first single, that was absolutely huge because I didn’t know it would come this fast in my life and that’s something that stood out for me.”

For Khaya, the best moments in this competition are moments the public never got to see. He enjoyed jamming with Chloe in the Idols House.
“The things you don’t see is real people who really share the art and the craft, she’s one of the best girls that I’ve met,” he says.
When asked what the greatest lesson he is taking from the Show is, he said it was the importance of preparation.
“If you are not prepared, if you haven’t checked your stuff, if you don’t know who you are, you are going to crumble and it’s not going to work out for you simply because you are unprepared.”
