Five talented musicians have been selected to be the band behind the Idol.

The competition, sponsored by Samsung Electronics South Africa and Judged by local artist, Danny K, and Idols director, Gavin Wratten, saw many talented musicians enter. But the band only has room for five.

A keyboard player, drummer and guitarist from Johannesburg, a bass player from Durban and a wildcard entry from Pretoria will back the Idols Contestants this Sunday for the Top 2 Spectacular.

“The Band Behind the Idol 2012 competition was an exciting activation that showcased many talented South Africans and their musical innovation,” says Craige Fleischer, Director of Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics SA.

Competition Judge, Danny K, says: “Over the past few weeks we have seen some phenomenal talent and as a South African artist myself, I am very excited to see that corporate South Africa is taking such a keen interest in the growth and development of the local music scene.”

Tune into the show to watch the Top 2 perform with the band on M-Net and Mzansi Magic this Sunday, 30 September at 17:30.

Remember, this final voting period has been extending. Lines opened at 20:00 on Tuesday 25 September and will only close at 22:00 on Monday, 1 October. So keep voting for your favourite Contestant.
