News: Reaction To Melissa
Melissa rocked the Idols stage with two local songs that had the audience dancing.

Her first song of the night was “Lovesick” by The Arrows. Gareth felt she had some trouble breathing while Unathi enjoyed her performance. “You had fun and we had fun,” she said. As usual, Randall was a little harder to impress, he felt she was not “individual” enough for this stage of the competition. “I think you’re going to struggle against the competition,” he said.

Watch that performance again:

For her second solo of the night, she challenged herself with Mafikizolo’s “Ndihamba Nawe”. Unathi was pleased that Melissa had taken the time to learn the languages in the song. “Thank you, in Heritage Month, that you made sure that your pronunciations were correct,” she said. Randall thought the song would get Melissa a lot of votes because it was such a crossover hit. But he agreed with Gareth that it was “too much of a performance” for that song.

See her perform that number again here:

And this is what the viewers at home had to say about this PE beauty’s performances:

"Well done Melissa. That is how you start a show. You are truly the package." - Lucille Kennedy Matthews.

"Boring. You’re going home next week." - Rothnia Mokonyane.

"True talent right here, she is flexible and is a risk taker. She tackles difficult songs and does them well. Show me anyone there who can sing Gabriel or this Mafikizolo song in 3 languages like Mel. You have my votes girl." - Khensi Khensani Baloyi.

"Best performances of the evening!" - Basil Klavas.

"I didn’t like it at all." - Cindy Mabena.

"It was awesome, great effort to learn the song in all three languages." - Michel Franks.
