Behind the fabulous lights, and glitz and glam of the Idols stage, there is an entire backstage area where the Idols Contestants prepare themselves.
First up,
Khaya gives us a tour of the dressing room. He says all their stuff is prepared three or four days before the show.
Simphiwe then takes us to the eating area, where “you can eat as much as you want,” he says. Simphiwe progresses onto the make-up area where
Melissa gives us a taste of what happens there. “The whole process takes about 2 hours before the show,” she says. She claims to “look like a ghost without make-up.”
Watch this video to see where they are styled, fed and made-up:
Monde shows us the area where they get their mikes, earpieces and other props they may need while on stage. He says the girls have the golden looking mikes, “because you know, divas, they gotta shine.” He hands over to
Tshidi, who tells us more about the Green Room. “I don’t know why they call it the Green Room, we call it the Chill Room because there is nothing green.” It is there where they sign the autographed postcards and relax with blankets, before and after their performances.
Watch Part 2:
