News: Showstoppers Aren’t Easy

News: Showstoppers Aren’t Easy
The Top 6 are quite confident in their singing abilities but it would seem the intense choreography that goes with this week’s “Showstopper” theme is quite a challenge to master.

Monde believes balancing voice control and holding his core is his biggest challenge.

“You are breathing and singing from your diaphragm and when you move, you move your diaphragm and core muscles so having to balance that is quite difficult especially if you have to hit a high note and jump at the same time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Simphiwe finds all the elements that go into a showstopper performance at times overwhelming.

“There’s just so much happening all around me, there’s lights, there’s music and dancing and singing so I have to think of a lot of things and to keep that focus is hard,” he said.

Singing and dancing at the same time looks glamorous and oh-so-easy in music videos. The Top 6 tell us it is actually more difficult than it seems.

The girls are also finding this week’s performance a mission to perfect. Tshidi has simply asked her fans to “please focus on the singing and not the dancing.”

Shekhinah’s major challenge has been “trying to maintain good singing as well as good dancing, the two kind of clash a lot,” she says.

Although Melissa has worked with dancing and singing, it’s been a while and she’s not too sure how fit she is now.

Feeling the pressure of this week’s performance, Khaya who says he is not the best dancer in the world, posted this on Facebook before his rehearsal: “It's show time, please keep me in your prayers as I am feeling awfully nervous than I usually do... Anything is possible to him who believes!”
