With numerous awards under her belt, Lira has plenty to share with the Contestants as their mentor for last week.

“The competition has been wonderful in terms of getting people out of their comfort zones and really stretching them in all kinds of ways so in terms of preparing them for the industry, I think its truly wonderful,” she said.

Having worked with all the Contestants she feels they all have something unique to offer the local music industry.

“Some of the stand out voices were from Tshidi, Shekhinah and Monde – he has a very surprising range,” she says.


Lira speaks about her experience mentoring this year’s Idols hopefuls.


Lira has just launched her ‘Captured Tour’ DVD and CD, Africa’s first concert film that explores the relationship she has with her fans.


Lira’s message to the Idols hopefuls is: “You always need to find your space and fill it, not everybody will be everybody’s favourite. But you just need to be authentic to what you do and know that there will be a space and a place for what you have to offer.”
