At the Top 10 Performance Show the Judges said Tshidi and Chloe had the best performance and best song choice of the Season. And at the Top 9 Performance show it was Simphiwe’s turn to shine.
Simphiwe performed “Beautiful Monster” by Ne-Yo with guidance from Tamara Dey, who was the Idols mentor for the week, and Music Director Martin Schofield.
“We did a stripped down guitar and vocal arrangement, it’s so beautiful. It gets to show off his voice beautifully,” says Martin.
With this performance, Simphiwe planned to impress all the Judges and he succeeded. Even Randall said it was “possibly your best performance so far”.
Watch it again here:
Unathi was in awe and said she could not fault him. With his last performance she felt he had not grasped the importance of telling a story through music but on Sunday, he had definitely upped his game.
“This is the most earnest performance you have done. You were so raw and vulnerable and that’s what it takes to be a good performer,” she said.
This Sunday catch your Top 8 performing songs from the year they were born. And once again it’s all for your votes so tune in and vote to keep your favourite Contestant in the competition.
