When asked what advice he could give the Idols Contestants, nine-time Grammy Award winner and international RnB star John Legend had this to say.
“Take advantage of the opportunities Idols gives you, always pick the right songs and perform at your best each week. Always work on being the best you can be.”
That, along with plenty self-confidence, seems to be the best way to win this Season of South Africa’s biggest singing competition.
After an impressive performance from Monde
, Randall said he was a far better singer than he gives himself credit for.
“My opinion is that it was 90% of the way there. You are getting there, but you still underestimate yourself. I think you are a lot better than you think you are,” says Randall.

At Tuesday’s Live Results Show, Dominic
was in the bottom 3 and after yesterday’s performance Randall felt he might find himself at the bottom yet again this week. But Unathi believes Dominic could still change things around for himself.
“The only way you are going to improve is if you start believing in yourself. I can see it in your eyes, you are doubting yourself” she says.
Watch Dominic take on Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” again:
In past weeks Nosipho
has been beaming with confidence on stage hitting all the right notes with the audience and Judges, but not this week.
Although Randall did not think it was her worst performance, he felt she “lost a lot of focus”.

So it seems it’s going to take a lot more than just a good voice to win Idols. Contestants need self-confidence that isn’t shaken even when the pressure and the competition gets more and more intense with each round.
Tune in to M-Net
and Mzansi Magic
this Tuesday, 14 August at 19:30 for the Live Results Show.
