It was really tough to say goodbye to 8 talented Idols Contestants last week, but the public have spoken. As ProVerb states: “You created them.”

We’re now into the Top 10, and everyone agrees on one thing: the competition is stiff this year.

Remember, the Top 10 Spectacular is recorded at the Home Of Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg, on Fridays.

The musical theme for this week is “Old School / New School”, with the Contestants performing updated versions of classic hits.

Nosipho Mngomezulu is singing “Lady Marmalade”, a classic hit for Patti Labelle and was updated by Christina Aguilera, Lil’Kim, Mya and Pink. Nosipho’s voting number is 01.

Obakeng Ramaboa went out on a limb and chose “Kiss”, originally by Prince And The Revolution but given a new lease of life by none other than Tom Jones. Obakeng’s voting number is 02.

Monde Msutwana is going old-school to impress the ladies with the Barry White standard, “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Baby”. Monde’s voting number is now 03.

Chloë Kiley will be giving new life to John Waite’s “Missing You” and her new voting number is 04.

Simphiwe Gwegwe will be performing the Manhattans classic “Kiss And Say Goodbye”, which was also a hit for Denim. Simphiwe’s voting number is 05.

Dominic Neill will re-interpret Aloe Blacc’s “I Need A Dollar” and his new voting number is 06.

Melissa Allison is tackling Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and her new voting number is 07.

Khaya Mthethwa throws himself into the Spectaculars phase with gusto with Aerosmith’s big ballad “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” and Khaya’s voting number is 08.

Shekhinah Donnell is re-interpreting the Tina Turner hit “Simply The Best”, which was originally a Bonnie Tyler hit, and hoping it will be true for her as well! Sheki’s new voting number is 09.

And Tshidi Tenyane will close the show with her version of the Whitney Houston classic “How Will I Know”, and her voting number is 10.

Dare not miss Episode 11 of Idols Season 8 on M-Net and Mzansi Magic this Sunday, 5 August at 17:30.
