News: These Girls Are In It To Win It
This past Sunday the Top 9 ladies in the competition proved that they were definitely in it to win it with stellar performances that impressed both the Judges and audience.

After impressing Randall in previous rounds, Sihle was first up on the Soweto Theatre stage to perform "Firework" by Katy Perry.

“I think you have the makings of being a major pop star,” says Unathi.

During the show, viewers took to Facebook to share their views on the official Idols page;

Sihle can sing it’s just that tonight was not her night but I voted for her because I know that she is good - Lekhine Frank Mogaladi

Sihle is competing with divas and she is not a diva. But the FACT is SHE CAN SING. With the right song choice, one that suits her and matches her voice she can do wonders and that's a FACT - Paulinah Matlaela

Tshidi’s rendition of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" by Jennifer Hudson had audiences all riled up and even brought a tear to some.

“You have the fury of a tornado and you have talent and you are just so strong but if you want to stay in this competition till the end you need a bit of funkiness and young and cool which you have,” said Gareth.

What you said:
Perfect....Loved it! - Maphuti Maclean Mokwele

Tshidi, for a second I thought I was listening to Jennifer Hudson. You did justice to the song, your performance was spot on, I loved it. You have my vote gal - Bontle Maloka

Jennifer Hudson can learn from you - Althea January

Before performing, Maryke said she hoped her performance of "Rock Steady" by Aretha Franklin would be memorable.

“I hope with the way I’ll be performing it, it will stick in your head and that you’ll enjoy it and feel it with me and hopefully get up on your feet,” she said.

Gareth said although she performed well, he’s concerned if that song would win her the votes she needs to get to Top 10, while Unathi said Maryke reminded her of Beyonce.

“You are running things,” she said.

“Absolutely loved Maryke's performance. Pure funk. Go Maryke” Regan Meyer posted on Sunday night.

After a good first audition with Brenda Fassie’s “Vula Indlela”, Thabisa kept the local music flag flying with her performance of "Loliwe" the smash hit by Zahara.

While an impressed Gareth said “I can imagine you are going to get a lot of votes baby,” Randall thought her dancing was a little distracting.

Chloe chose a song she felt would work well with the audience.

“I chose the song [Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know"] because I love it and lots of people love it, I think it’s one of the biggest songs right now,” she said.

What you said:
Chloe is the girl!! Great performance of a song I love. Love her energy. U go girl - Elbé Robinson

This girl just sings, her voice has no personality, she's boring. - Tandeka Nkonki

Chloe is so creative when it comes to portraying a song, in terms of her actions and terrific attitude - love her! - Lungelo Zungu 'Rossoneri'

Back for a second try at winning Idols SA, Shekinah took on "Thinking Of You" by Katy Perry saying “I hope everyone enjoys my song and falls in love with it like I did when I first heard it”.

Unathi has been impressed with her song choices throughout the competition while viewers back home were in awe of her voice;

I must say I was a little disappointed with the song choice, but having said that, I'm crazy about her voice she's going all the way to the top in this competition - Cassandra Tabane

Not bad at all babes you showed a lot of emotion which I think was super, you have a good voice, you’re going to the top 2, I’m telling you :-) - Thandi Mofokeng

Nosipho may be a farm girl back home in Mpumalanga but she was a true performer on stage for her take on Aretha Franklin’s "Respect".

Makhaka Mak Dolomba posted on the Idols fan page “That performance was just out of this UNIVERSE!”

Brenda Pumeza Jajula posted “Great voice! Very few people can do justice to Aretha's songs *great respect for that*.”

Next on stage was Melissa who has had a good run in the competition so far.

“Tonight I’ve chosen the song "Domino" by Jessie J. The song itself is very fun loving. It speaks about love and has such a great message behind it,” she says.

What you said:
She has my vote! -Dumisani Nkuna

She kinda shook my faith in her a bit. She should choose songs that work hand in hand with the ability of her vocals. LOVE HER THOUGH! - Phiwe Khasiphe Mandondo

Totally disagree with Gareth she rocked - Gladys Maluleka

Gareth had said she needed to work on her focus and breathing in order to hit the big note well.

“You know you are good but not in an arrogant way, you do what you have to do to deliver…and that’s the only way to get better, you are good, so own it,” said Unathi.

Last on stage was Candy performing "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga.

While Randall thought the performance was good, Gareth thought “it was the completely wrong interpretation of the song, it just didn’t hit home and you are a great singer, I’m not happy at all with that”.

The audience’s opinion was also divided;
My money is on her! Has a very good voice! My vote and everybody I know! Well done - Jeanette Whitehouse

Bad song choice! Hate Lady Gaga! I wanted to support her but her selection made me pull out my votes! - Makwenisto Makgakga

Wow you rock girl. - Brazer Gwamanda

I couldn’t agree more with Gareth, her performance was just okay, not good... But I must compliment her on her hair style, I love it! Lmao - Tshegofatso Tshoba
